In the north of Vietnam, 160 km from Hanoi, there is a bay of amazing beauty — Halong. 3000 islands covered with greenery and rocks of bizarre shapes rise above the emerald expanse of water, and the shores of the bay are decorated with beaches, caves, freshwater lakes and mangrove forests.

Most of the islands are uninhabited, only two large islands are permanently inhabited — Tuan Chau and Cat Ba. Tourist activity is developing on them, there are beaches and hotels. There are wonderful beaches on other smaller islands – Bai Chau, Ti Top, Min Chau, Kuan Lan and others.

If you look from above, Halong looks like a beautiful painting created by a wizard. A unique masterpiece of nature, which has transformed thousands of silent stone islands into fantastic sculptural and picturesque works of various forms - sometimes familiar, sometimes strange. Here a person feels like an alien trapped among the fossils of the ancient world.

Halong Bay is a stunning natural wonder located in northeastern Vietnam, about 170 kilometers east of Hanoi. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its beautiful limestone karsts and islands that rise up from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

The bay is home to around 1,600 limestone islands and islets, many of which are hollow with enormous caves. Some of the popular islands include Cat Ba Island, Ti Top Island, and Bo Hon Island.

• The limestone formations in Halong Bay are estimated to be around 500 million years old.

• Many of the islands in Halong Bay have their own unique names, such as the Fighting Cock Island, the Stone Dog Island, and the Incense Burner Island.

• Halong Bay is home to several species of animals, including monkeys, bats, and civets, as well as a variety of fish and marine life.

• The local people in Halong Bay live in floating villages, where they rely on fishing as their main source of income.

• Halong Bay can get quite crowded with tourists, especially during peak season, so it is best to plan your visit ahead of time and book your tours and accommodations in advance.
